Sarah Moulange successfully acts for client with severe mental health issues

Our criminal defence solicitors in London received instructions on a case wherein it was alleged that our client racially assaulted a cab driver before punching and strangling the arresting officer.

The prosecution alleged that the video footage of our client clearly showed numerous assaults.

Trainee Solicitor, Sarah Moulange, instructed Sarah Fairbairn of 5SAH chambers who argued that the evidence was not as clear as it first appeared. By carefully cross-examining those present at the scene and presenting our client’s case, Ms Fairbairn secured an acquittal for our client. Following a lengthy trial, the jury deliberated for less than an hour and ultimately found in favour of our client.

At the same time, our client was accused of Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH), a charge to which he plead guilty. The prosecution alleged that this offence was extremely serious and involved the use of a weapon. However, Ms Fairbairn, with the assistance of National Legal Service Solicitors, demonstrated that there was no weapon involved.

Our client could have faced a sentence of 4 years imprisonment. However, as a result of the expert submissions made by Sarah Fairbairn, the thorough case preparation by Sarah Moulange, and the criminal defence solicitors at National Legal Service, our client was instead sentenced to 9 months imprisonment.
