National Legal Service Protects Woman from Further Domestic Abuse

Amy* (*not her real name) approached National Legal Service for legal assistance after she became a victim of domestic violence. Our experienced team has helped thousands of domestic abuse victims, and is one of the country’s largest legal aid providers for domestic abuse victims in England. We put our wealth of experience and family law know how to work to help Amy, to secure a Non-Molestation Order to protect her from further violence.

Amy was verbally abused by the respondent throughout a five-year relationship. Although a restraining order was initially imposed by the courts against her ex, Amy was regularly contacted and harassed, leading to a need for legal protection.

At the end of 2019, Amy received a message from her ex threatening to kill her. Given the seriousness of the situation, he was placed on bail with the condition not to contact Amy or visit the school their child attended.

Unfortunately, Amy wasn’t told when these conditions would expire.

Because of the immediate nature of the circumstances, our team made an application to the family courts for a Non-Molestation Order, which was ultimately granted.

Amy’s ex then made an application for contact with the child, we were then instructed to represent Amy in further private law children’s proceedings.

We secured a contact order for Amy, which came with clear contact arrangements to ensure the safety of both Amy and her child.

Now the proceedings have concluded Amy has since told us that she is grateful for all the help and support we provided through what was a significant period of trauma for her.
