In June 2018, National Legal Service were Instructed by Maia* (not her real name), a Mother who was suffering in an abusive relationship.
Maia entered into a relationship with her ex-partner shortly after she became pregnant.
The pregnancy resulted in a child together however, throughout the relationship, Maia was subjected to domestic abuse consisting of mental, emotional, verbal, and physical abuse daily.
After the relationship ended, Maia’s ex-partner made threats to remove the child from her care and to take the child to live in Turkey.
The team at National Legal Service helped Maia secure an Ex-Parte Non-Molestation Order and a Prohibited Steps Order to stop the father removing the child from Maia’s care.
More recently the NLS team assisted Maia with changing her child’s surname and are representing her following her ex-partner’s application for a Child Arrangements Order.
