National Legal Service Secures Without Notice, Non-Molestation Order Following Attack

Our latest case story is Li Jing’s* (not her real name). Li Jing had suffered abuse throughout a 3-year relationship with her ex-partner. His abuse included controlling and coercive behaviour as well as mental abuse and harassment.

Li Jing instructed us after being physically attacked and left with facial injuries following an argument.  Li Jing reported the incident to the police who investigated but took no further action leaving Li Jing in fear of being a risk from further harm and without protection from her violent ex. The stress was also having an impact on her mental health.

Our specialist team supported Li Jing in drafting her witness statement in support of an application for a non-molestation order; we also represented her at an ex-parte hearing where the order was secured, without notice to her abuser for a period of 12 months.

The order prevented him from communicating with her unless it was through solicitors, as well as intimidating, harassing or pestering Li Jing; the order also prohibited him from encouraging other do the same on his behalf.

With the order in place Li Jing feels she has the necessary protection to continue living a normal life without fear or controlling behaviour.
