At National Legal Service, we are proud to continue leading the way with domestic abuse legal support as the rollout of Domestic Abuse Protection Orders (DAPOs) expands across more areas of England and Wales.
As specialists in domestic abuse, we are at the forefront of supporting individuals and agencies navigating the evolving landscape of protective measures. Our dedicated team is actively working with clients and organisations to ensure effective use of DAPOs, which offer streamlined, robust protection for survivors of domestic abuse.
NLS was the first law firm to apply for and secure a DAPO in one of the pilot London Boroughs and has since secured further DAPO’s in London and Manchester.
New DAPO Rollout Areas:
From 27 November 2024:
- London boroughs of Croydon, Sutton, and Bromley
- Greater Manchester
- British Transport Police also empowered to apply for DAPOs
From 5 March 2025:
- Hartlepool
- Middlesbrough
- Redcar
- Cleveland
- Stockton-on-Tees
From 28 April 2025:
- North Wales (Isle of Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Wrexham)
The expansion of DAPOs marks a major development in safeguarding survivors, aimed at simplifying the protection process by consolidating multiple orders into a single, flexible remedy. This unified approach enables the courts to impose both protective and positive requirements tailored to individual circumstances.
We are committed to ensuring that victims and survivors, agencies and support networks have the expert legal guidance they need to navigate these changes confidently. With extensive experience handling Domestic Abuse Protection Orders, National Legal Service remains dedicated to providing sensitive, specialist legal advice to protect those most at risk.
If you or someone you know needs advice on DAPOs, please contact our team for expert support.
